ABOUT US

Hedges Hardscape and Gardens is a small family owned landscape operation located between Topeka and Lawrence,KS. We offer a large range of services to homeowners in Lawrence, Topeka, and surrounding areas. We have specialized experience building dynamic and low-maintenance outdoor living spaces and beautiful garden beds. Our passion is fortified by more than 15 years of experience in the landscape field. Founded in Lawrence, KS by Michael Hedges and Lynsi Harris in 2018 after managing and supervising for a combined 13 years at another creative mid-sized landscape firm. Throughout working on so many projects over the years, we evolved into our unique team, and were soon married after we branched out to build our dream!

Whether you need help envisioning your next project or need a proficient team to help accomplish a specific goal in your landscape, we take extra care when examining any new tasks at hand. And we offer free consultations and estimates!

We provide a large range of services except for lawn care and carpentry. Our services cover a wide variety of hardscape construction, patios, walkways, drainage solutions, routine maintenance, large-scale cleanups, and removals, friendly and attentive estimation, and plan building. Our work is highly detail-oriented to create outdoor living spaces that provide long-lasting beauty as much as they are functional. All of our services are flexible and customized for each unique project goal and budget.

Team

  • Michael Hedges

    Co-Owner

    Mike has over 10 years of artisan hardscape installation and landscape masonry experience. He also has a vocational degree in Horticulture from JCCC, and is as passionate about plants as his stonework. He puts so much care into every project he takes on, and his hardscape aesthetic design, problem solving, and estimation expertise is a key element in our design process. He was a foreman for 6 years at Low Maintenance Landscape before co-founding Hedges Hardscape and Gardens with his wife Lynsi in the summer of 2018.

  • Lynsi Harris

    Co-Owner

    Lynsi has over 15 years of horticulture, design, and project management experience. She has a diverse background in the landscape industry geared towards working with plants rich in ecological value and beauty. She also collaborates with Kansas Plant Farm which grows thousands of hard to find native, well adapted cultivars, hardy tropical plants, and trees.

  • Charles Menghini

    Professional Gardner and Installation Technician. As well as our company Floral Photographer and Visual Storyteller.

    Charles is a nature enthusiast who has over 6 years of experience working in the landscape field. He worked with Michael and Lynsi previously for 3 years, and joined the Hedges Hardscape and Gardens team in the spring of 2020. He has an eye for detail, and is highly skilled in both new installations, and professional maintenance. His upbeat warmth, and knowledge is invaluable to our team and beautification of each project. He loves all plants, but ferns are definitely his favorite! Whether he is fine tuning a cleanup, making hardscapes come together, or stopping to take photos of the beauty around him, Charles is a wonderful garden professional to contribute to any landscape.

  • Marcus Fender

    Skilled Hardscape Technician and Jack of All Trades

    Marcus is a founding member of our team, and has more than 10 years of experience working in lawncare and the landscape field. Nicknamed Mr. Fixit, Marcus is extremely skilled in machinery mechanics as well as lawncare, tree work, rock work, large scale maintenance cleanups, and all levels of new landscape installation. He also operates his own mowing business, Fender Lawn and Landscape with our fellow team mate, and family member Matt Fender. Marcus is a delight to work with and his help always turns our team into a super crew. His hard work ethic, and sense of humor elevates every project with positive momentum, and stunning results!

    Skilled Installation Technician

    Matt has 6 years of experience running mowing crews, and landscape maintenance. He has an eye for detail, and you can see the care he puts into each step that goes into his work. We’re always so happy to see him when he is able to lend us a hand! His unique humor keeps everyone laughing, and smiling while almost making us forget the intensive labor that goes into many of the installations we build together.
